Curious, how are people playing this if we can't get them in the my demise page (beta testers?)? Have the cds already been shipped out? If so, I have a new addresss...

Way back when, in the dim mists of pre-history, members of this community helped in many ways to keep the game alive and all those 'alpha' and 'beta' testers are receiving the game 'as promised' ... after those folks there are some 100 or so that took the opportunity of registering for the CDs ... once they're in the mail ( or email if they're overseas ) then I'll be turning my attention to the 'My Demise' page and catching up with customers. There's only so much one twisted dwarf can do :roll:

I just downloaded and installed on my XP machine and all went well...imported a party from PP version ... went well...
Just copied the install file to the Win 7 notebook and did the install same way ...(just ran it) start the games and get Unexpected error; quitting
Tried running the install as adminstrator and same error.

What am i missing ? Looked at the download site again and no specific instuctions

Should I uninstall before running as Admin???

Help...will copy this and reply to the distribution email...

Hope someone can clear up fast...public holiday tomorrow and I wanted to get right intp this...

Set the compatibility mode of ascension.exe to Windows XP SP3.

Does this mean Ascension is available for download? Do I need to buy demse 1.03 to have access to my demise and download ascension or there will be an option to purchase ascension, tomorrow or day after tomorrow?

The Ascension 'Open Beta' is more to provide large-scale game balance feedback than anything else ~ it will replace the Demise download in a few days because the original game ( with a few enhancements and bug-fixes ) is part of and 'within' Ascension.

Your amazing patience is appreciated and I hope that at the very least you'll decide that it was worth the wait.

I don't know how the things are going, but Decklin has a lot of shipping to do right now.

Hopefully we should be able to buy and download the game from 'My Demise' in less than a week. I'm pretty sure Decklin is going to post something on the board about that when it's ready. Patience is a virtue.

ok - here are the rules:

1) I make the rules
2) If anyone understands the rules they are automatically and irrevocably changed
3) Several years ago a small window of opportunity was opened to allow people who had bought the original game from Artifact Entertainment or Pharaoh Productions or IPC Software or Decklin's Domain ( or even downloaded an illegal hack from Torrent ) to register ... those privileged few + Alpha testers of any flavour + Beta testers of any flavour will be personally sent either a CD or a link to d/l "privately" an install version.
4) The Demise (legacy key) allows me to track who among the Demizens purchased a game from Decklin's Domain and who might happen to be legit owners of a prior game.
5) The Ascension key is a) unique and b) belongs solely to the person I send it to.
6) Whatever form the Ascension download arrives in - if I send you a link so you can download it - it is for YOUR USE ONLY and SHALL NOT be transferred or Torrented - I will eventually find out and that key and that game will cease to exist.
7) I am a reasonable person but if you whine and moan you are quite likely to end up being the last person on earth to receive a copy of the game ... do I make myself clear?

Having got that rant over - here's the latest status:

I mailed 22 CDs using the USPS self-service robot. It seems I might just have underpaid the postage.
I mailed 28 Cds using a real person ... and it cost me more, hence the concern above. So you might just have to pay the difference ( about 36 cents ).

There are people on the list that never sent their snail mail address .. so they're back at the bottom of the list.

Next we have a slew of International email addresses ... I will be working on that over the next few days.

Those of you who do receive a CD ... you WILL need an ASCENSION key-code so DO email me as soon as you get the CD and I will check your email matches my records and send you a key-code.

When we have done with that exercise ... the next order of business will be to get the My Ascension page up and running ...

I bought Artifact Entertainment version of Demise in my country, the game was not shipped with serial key. How can I prove that I have the original game, and I'm legit owner of the game? I have only a magazine with shipped CD.

What does this mean? Does that mean the game installation every time will need an Internet connection to verify how many times / from where / by who game installation was made or what?

it dont count - i also bought cd version (Polish one - AE version sold in poland by other company) and also bought second time via my demise

its be similar to demise checks

I dont have Ascension - but based on what I've heard its the same as the Decklin Verison of demise, you need to be online to install the game for the cd-key check, but once installed you can play offline

So Ascension needs an internet connection to install and play, that is clear now. So if servers will be closed You want be able to install and play the game again.

One more question: is it possible to transfer characters back to original demise version from Ascension?

I have stated elsewhere that Ascension does NOT require an Internet connection to install or play SP. Playing in MP without an internet connection does present a small problem though ... and you will NOT be able to transfer characters back to Demise.

Please keep this post concerned with distribution issues only - I may have to remove the thread and replace it with a series of announcements
